When you design a piece of furniture, you have four main goals. You may not have learned them subconsciously, but they are an indispensable part of your design process.
These four goals are functional, comfortable, durable and beautiful. Although these are the most basic requirements for the furniture manufacturing industry, they are worthy of our in-depth study.
1. Is it practical? In my opinion, the function of a piece of furniture is very important, it must be able to reflect its own value. If it is a chair, it must be able to keep your hips out of the ground. If it's a bed, it will definitely let you sit on it, and it will let you lie on it. The meaning of a functional function is that the furniture contains a generally acceptable purpose that is acceptable. People spend too much energy on the art deco of furniture. But can a chair that can't sit still call a chair? For most people, who can't accept the overall function as an important goal of furniture design? The answer is self-evident.
2. Is it comfortable? A piece of furniture must not only have the functions it should have, but must also have considerable comfort. A stone allows you to sit down on the ground, but it is neither comfortable nor convenient, but the chair is just the opposite. If you want to rest in bed all night, the bed must have enough height, strength and comfort to guarantee this. The height of a coffee table must be such that it is convenient for him to serve tea to the guests, but the height is quite uncomfortable for eating.
3. Durability A piece of furniture should be able to be used for a long time, but the life of each piece of furniture is not the same, because this is closely related to their main function. For example, lounge chairs and picnic tables are outdoor furniture. They are not expected to be as durable as drawer panels, nor can they be compared to the lampstands you wish to leave to your children.
Durability is often seen as the only manifestation of quality. However, in fact, the quality of a piece of furniture is closely related to the perfect embodiment of each goal in the design. It includes another goal that will be mentioned next: aesthetics. If it is a chair that is very durable and durable, but the appearance is very ugly, or sitting on it is extremely uncomfortable, can it be called a high-quality chair? the answer is negative.
4. Whether it is attractive to attract people in the current handmade shop, whether the appearance of the furniture is attractive is an important factor in distinguishing skilled workers from the boss. Through a hard training, skilled workers can understand how to accomplish the three goals mentioned earlier. They already understand how to make a piece of furniture with the functions it deserves and to be comfortable and durable.
