Ultraviolet nonlinear optical crystal is an indispensable key material in modern high-tech, widely used in various fields of science and technology. For many years, the research of nonlinear optical crystal materials has been a research hotspot in the field of new functional materials.
The team of optoelectronic functional materials led by researcher Pan Shilie from the Xinjiang Institute of Physics and Chemistry Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences has made new progress in scientific research on the growth of potassium chloroborate crystals. They nurtured and grown a high-quality single crystal of 25 × 11 × 7 mm3, and tested its birefringence to be around 0.04. It is estimated that the shortest wavelength matched by frequency-doubled light is 255 nm, which is expected to become a new generation of UV frequency-doubled Crystal.
The related research results are titled Growth, thermal and optical properties of a novel nonlinear optical material K3B6O10Cl, published in CrystEngComm (2012, 14, 799-803). The crystal in the research results was published by the magazine as "The Crystal Clear Image" in February.
