In this trend, the packaging and printing field is also constantly developing new processes and new materials to meet the needs of the packaging market. The smoke sign matte printing process is one of the best.
1. Matte printing Matte printing is to print a layer of transparent UV matte ink on a substrate with a glossy finish. After UV curing, a rough surface such as frosted glass is formed, and screen printing methods are mostly used. Since the pattern obtained by this printing is very much like the effect of metal etching and has a special rough feeling, it is also called imitation metal etching printing.
2. Smoke label printing printing materials for printing matte printing generally use 250 ~ 300g/m2 gold, silver cardboard and vacuum aluminum paper, and its surface is flat, with a high degree of smoothness, can produce mirror metal after printing effect.
It is also possible to use a method of printing color paste on white cardboard, that is, printing a gold or silver color paste on the cardboard using a coating device, but the color strength of the color paste is required to be high, the coating color is uniform, the clothing is flat, and the gloss is good. Compared with composite gold and silver cardboard, the effect of gold and silver coated paper is slightly worse.
3. Matte ink In the matte printing process, the matte effect is formed by the special properties of the UV matte ink. The smoke-printing matte ink is a colorless and transparent one-component UV-curable ink with a particle size of 15-30 μm. The printed product has a clear matte effect, and the ink film is full and the three-dimensional effect is strong, and the product can be improved. As a result, it is mostly used for packaging and printing of cigarette labels, wine labels, cosmetics, and health products.
UV matte ink has distinct advantages over traditional solvent inks: exquisite printing pattern, strong three-dimensional effect, no solvent, high solid content, low environmental pollution, fast curing, energy saving, high production efficiency; The film is resistant to friction, solvent and heat. The smoke marking is mainly used in medium sand ink, and its appearance is white translucent fluid, and the basic technical parameter is viscosity: 3.0±0.1Pa·s
(25°C); specific gravity: 1.10g/cm3 (25°C); pH: 6.5-7.5; non-volatile components account for more than 99%; curing speed is less than 5 seconds (40m/min, 80W/cm high pressure mercury lamp 3). This ink should be cured using a UV curing device. The mechanism is that the photosensitive resin in the ink binder absorbs the energy in the UV light and instantly forms a hardened film. If natural light curing is used, it takes about 2 to 3 days.
4. Printing Process Points (1) Printing Machine To ensure the accuracy of registration, it is best to use an automatic screen printing machine with a UV curing device for the matte printing. For example, Japanese Sakurai with a UV curing channel is facing a sheet-fed roller screen printing machine with a printing speed of 800-3,000 sheets/hour.
(2) Printing environment Temperature: 25±5°C; Humidity: 45%±5%.
(3) Overprinting standards Plates and graphics should be consistent with the previous color printing to ensure overprinting accuracy, and overprinting error should be ≤ 0.25mm.
(4) Printing color sequence The cigarette marking printing belongs to the high-grade trademark printing, which requires not only rich colors but also certain anti-counterfeiting functions. Therefore, a combination of multicolor printing and various printing methods is often used. When arranging the print sequence, the matte ink should be arranged in the last color. Such as the printing of a white, red, pattern hot stamping and matte effect of the smoke, the general color sequence is, first printed white, red ink, and then hot stamping, and finally printing matte ink. Because the matte ink is colorless and transparent, it can be printed on the surface of gold and silver cardboard and can transmit the inherent metallic luster of the printing material to achieve the printing effect of imitation metal etching. Moreover, the last printed frosted ink can also reveal the color of the ink printed the previous time.
(5) Curing method Cured with a high-pressure mercury lamp. The lamp life is generally 1500 to 2000 hours and requires frequent replacement. The price of homemade lamps is about 1,000 yuan each; the price of imported lamps is between 3,000 and 4,000 yuan.
(6) Printing pressure When printing matte ink, the squeegee pressure should be slightly larger than that of ordinary color inks, and the pressure should be kept consistent.
(7) Printing speed The particles of the matte ink are large. To make the matte ink fully penetrate the mesh, the printing speed should be lower than that of other inks. In general, the printing speed of other inks is 2500±100 sheets/hour; the printing speed of matte inks is generally 2300±100 sheets/hour.
(8) Screen requirements Generally, the imported plain nylon net of about 300 mesh is used, and the tension of the stretch net is even. In the printing process, the deformation of the print plate is also strictly controlled.
5. Common faults and solutions (1) Poor metal texture Cause: The thinner added to the ink is not suitable; the power of the UV lamp is insufficient; the quality of the printed material is poor.
Solution: Add a diluent matching the matte ink before printing; the amount of diluent is accurate and the stirring is adequate. During the curing process, the power range of the light source should be selected according to the thickness of the ink layer and the speed of the light beam traveler. The power of the light source should be 0.08-0.4 kW. In addition, it is also necessary to choose a substrate with a higher metallic luster, with no scratches on the surface and suitable tensile strength and high temperature resistance.
(2) Roughness of the matte surface of the smoke sign and uneven distribution of the particles. Cause: The printing pressure is inconsistent.
Solution: The length of the scraper should be slightly larger than the width of the printing substrate. Smoke label printing can choose right angle scraper, but the hardness of the glue scrap should not be too high, the general hardness is HS65.
(3) Ink on dry screen Cause: Natural light is directed onto the screen. Because the natural light contains a large amount of ultraviolet ray, it is easy to cause the photosensitizer in the ink to cure. Paper surface or ink contains impurities.
Solution: Try to avoid natural light direct printing plate; use high surface strength paper; printing environment should be kept clean.
(4) Adhesion of printed matter Cause: The ink layer on the printed matter is not completely cured.
Solution: Improve the power of the light curing machine; reduce the speed of the light curing machine; reduce the ink layer thickness on the premise of meeting the printing requirements.
(5) Sticking Cause: The positioning of the paper is inaccurate and the impression cylinder gripper is improperly adjusted.
Solution: Calibrate the paper positioning system and adjust the position of the grippers to prevent the paper from rotating with the rollers.
(6) Plate rupture Cause: The printing pressure is too large and the tension of the stretch net is uneven.
Solution: Adjust the pressure of the squeegee evenly; maintain the tension of the stretch net evenly; it is better to choose the imported net cloth.
(7) Fringe on the edge of the picture Cause: The viscosity of the ink is too large.
Solution: Add appropriate diluent to adjust the viscosity of the ink; avoid ink drawing.
