Mountaineering history: In 1990, China, the Soviet Union and the United States peace climbers climbed Mount Qomolangma

After nearly 3 years of brewing and preparation, the Everest Peace Climbing Team of China, the Soviet Union and the United States climbed Mount Everest on May 7, 1990. The six Warriors are China, Gab, and Zimi; the United States, Link, Gore; Su Fang, Alsijiev, and Lenjakov.

Joint mountaineering has a long history.

In 1958, the First Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee, Khrushchev, and Chairman Mao Zedong of the Communist Party of China discussed the two countries’ joint summit of Mount Everest

.

At that time, the directors of the national sports committees of both parties discussed that the Soviet side had 100 meritorious athletes. The Chinese side bought two planes from the Soviet Union and bought oxygen from France. In 1959, both sides conducted reconnaissance mountaineering. When everything is ready, the relationship between the two parties in China and the Soviet Union is broken and there is no way to talk about cooperation and mountaineering. The red light has been on until the 1980s.

In 1979, the Chinese government announced the opening of the peaks of Everest and other peaks. At this time, Sino-U.S. relations have been normalized. The Americans saw the green lights on the peaks of China and began to frequent the mountains of China. In 1985, the Chinese and American players for the first time cooperated and climbed the Mudu Tagog Peak in Xinjiang.

The first American to conquer Everest, Jim Whitaker, wrote a letter to the China Mountaineering Association in July 1987. He proposed that the United States should finance the United States, the Soviet Union, and the United States to form a united mountaineering team. In 1990, they climbed Mount Everest and got the participation. Councilman Edward Kennedy supported. In January 1988, the United States informed China of Whittaker's discussions with the Soviet Sports Commission and the Mountaineering Association. The Soviet Union also responded positively to this initiative.

In May 1989, the Chinese government approved China Mountaineering Association to participate in this mountaineering activity. The Chinese Dengxie Association decided that the Tibet Mountaineering Team should participate on behalf of the Chinese team and that the Tibetan Sports Commission would be solely responsible for organizing and preparing the work.

In July 1989, representatives from China, the Soviet Union and the United States, Kampot, Veramir, and Whitaker signed a protocol in Moscow and unanimously agreed to form a united mountaineering team under the banner of peace, equality, friendship, and understanding. Reached an agreement. In August of the same year, tripartite captains Lausanne Dawa, Veramir and Whitaker reached an agreement in Beijing on funding issues. The plan for the joint team of China, the Soviet Union and the United States to climb Everest has since entered the implementation phase.
