Hong Kong launches new polymerization filtration technology recycling facility

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Productivity Promotion Agency has developed a new type of polymerization filtration technology recovery equipment that can help the electroplating industry reduce operating costs and greatly reduce the heavy metal content in the discharged sewage water and enhance its competitiveness.

Chen Yongchang, senior advisor to the Science and Technology Department of the Productivity Promotion Bureau, said that the principle of operation of this technology is to use large-molecular-weight water-soluble polymers to absorb metal ions and form complexes, and then separate and concentrate them with sewage by ultrafiltration and then adjust them appropriately. At pH, more than 99% of the metal ions can be released from the complex. By using polymer filtration technology, manufacturers can recover most of the metal ions that were previously considered to be waste, and polymers can also be recycled without restriction. This set of technology is similar to the traditional ion exchange technology, but its operating cost is about half that of low, and the metal content of the discharged sewage fully meets the requirements of environmental protection. The area occupied by the equipment of the new system is about half that of conventional equipment. Its operating procedures are simple, and ordinary technical workers can operate after a short period of training.
