In the more than ten years of research and development of the CTP industry, researchers have been adapting and cooperating with various requirements and applications of the printing industry in order to achieve the development of the system and to meet the needs of the actual printing process. When developing the technology of CTP system, the most important solution is the performance of the surface photosensitivity of the printing body, and it must be able to maintain the quality level of the general printing plate. However, this work is very difficult because of the need to improve a certain characteristic while at the same time weakening another characteristic. For example: When the photosensitivity of the printing plate surface is improved, the roughness of the surface will increase, and the plateau cannot have a high-precision printing effect.

The researchers used a pure photopolymer as a photosensitive layer on the surface of the printing plate. The polymer was negative. The benefit was that if the plate was coated with aluminum, the plate area remained stable. The surface of this printing plate is capable of sensing a very small amount of photons to produce maximum photopolymerization. Argon-ion laser is used as a light source, and a water-soluble developer is used.

Another way to increase the amount of light is to use silver halides. This printing plate has extremely sensitive photosensitivity.
