Before selecting a barcode scanner, you should understand the main technical parameters of the barcode scanning device, and then select the applicable device according to the requirements of the application.
1), resolution
For barcode scanning systems, the resolution is the correct detection of the width of the narrowest stripe read. English is MINIMAL BAR WIDTH (abbreviated as MBW). When selecting a device, it is not the higher the branching rate of the device. The scanner with the corresponding resolution should be selected according to the bar code density used in the specific application. In use, if the resolution of the selected device is too high, the stain on the bar, deinking, etc. will have a more serious impact on the system.
2), scan the depth of field
Scanning depth of field refers to the difference between the farthest distance that the scan head allows to leave the surface of the barcode and the closest point of the barcode scanner to the surface of the barcode, that is, the effective working range of the barcode scanner, while ensuring reliable reading. Some bar code scanning devices do not give a scanning depth of field indicator in the technical index, but give a scanning distance, that is, the shortest distance that the scanning head allows to leave the bar code surface.
3), scan width (SCAN WIDTH)
The scan width index refers to the physical length value of the bar code information that the scanned beam can read at a given scan distance.
4), scanning speed (SCAN SPEED)
The scanning speed refers to the scanning frequency of the scanning beam on the scanning track per unit time.
5), one recognition rate
The primary recognition rate represents the ratio of the number of labels read in the first scan to the total number of scanned labels. For example, if the information for each barcode label is scanned twice, the recognition rate is 50%. From the practical point of view, of course, I hope that every scan can pass, but unfortunately, due to a variety of factors, it is impossible to achieve a recognition rate of 100%.
It should be noted that the test index of one recognition rate is only applicable to the handheld light pen scanning identification method. If laser scanning is used, the scanning frequency of the beam to the bar code label is as high as hundreds of times per second, and the signal obtained by scanning is repeated.
6), bit error rate
The bit error rate is an extremely important test indicator that reflects the misidentification of a machine-recognizable tag system. The bit error rate is equal to the ratio of the number of false recognitions to the total number of recognitions. For a bar code system, the bit error rate is a more serious problem than the low recognition rate.
