The most important use of corrugated boxes is to package items, but if the carton has a dimensional deviation, it is tantamount to making a fatal mistake. Many people in the industry will think that the size management control of the carton is the most basic and simplest, but users of corrugated carton often do not think that the size problem directly determines the value of the carton. Only the right size customers will accept the use. The size is not suitable, no matter how good the other projects are, it will not help. But it is a very systematic job to really manage and control the size of the carton. Therefore, getting the simple things right at once is the most economical and scientific management.

Setting a good size is the "foundation stone"


There are three forms of corrugated box size: outer size, manufacturing size, and inner size. These three forms are composed of the length, width and height of the carton. Therefore, the specific expression is divided into outer length, width and height, inner length, width and height, and manufacturing length, width and height. The external size is the size of the volume measured from the outside of the corrugated carton. It is generally used as the basis for calculating the freight and the label on the outside of the carton. The inner size is the distance from the face to the face measured from the inside after the corrugated carton is formed. The inner size is determined according to the volume of the contents. In general, the inner size is slightly larger than the volume of the contents. The manufacturing size is the production process size converted according to the size of the carton. Generally, the production order is placed according to the manufacturing size and the pressure line is adjusted for production operation.

The relationship between the outer size, inner size and manufacturing size: (Take 0201 carton as an example)

Outer dimension length (width) = inner dimension length (width) + thickness of corrugated cardboard * number of layers of corrugated cardboard (2 layers)

Outer dimension height = inner dimension height + corrugated cardboard thickness * number of layers of corrugated cardboard (including 4 layers of inner and outer swing cover)

Manufacturing size length (width) = inner size length (width) + thickness of corrugated cardboard ÷ 2 * layers of corrugated cardboard
Manufacturing size height = internal size height + corrugated cardboard thickness ÷ 2 * the number of layers of corrugated cardboard
There is also a comprehensive size in the national standard. The comprehensive size of the carton is the sum of the length, width and height of the carton. Among the above three sizes, the manufacturing size is relatively flexible, and it changes at any time according to the thickness of different corrugated cardboard, different crimping molding equipment and different molding processes, so mastering the manufacturing size is the first to control the size of the carton step. The same is true for special-shaped carton. No matter how many layers of corrugated cardboard, the inner size must be added to the total thickness of these corrugated cardboard to get the outer size of the carton.

Scientific design is "preventive needle"

The size of the corrugated cardboard box must be designed first. Because the internal size is relatively easy to determine, it is determined by the physical measurement of the internal goods or the external size calculated by the physical combination arrangement. The discharge of the contents should save space as much as possible, and reasonably consider the supporting factors. From a mechanical point of view, if the contents share a part of the supporting force, the requirements on the compression resistance of the carton can be appropriately reduced. Therefore, it means a decrease in costs and a profit. If the content is a carton, consider the direction of the carton's strands, because the longitudinal strands have better support than the horizontal strands.

In the process of forming corrugated cardboard boxes, the corrugated cardboard should be crimped to make the corrugated cardboard bend well. At the same time, the crimping line destroys the structure of the corrugated cardboard and causes the backing paper to shrink and the surface paper to extend. The amount of expansion and contraction is directly related to the thickness of the cardboard and the method of crimping. The thicker the cardboard, the greater the stretch value, and the wider the crimp line, the greater the stretch value. But whether it is a corrugated cardboard box formed by the two-wire, three-wire or five-wire crimping method, the protruding part of the bottom line of the crimping wheel will squeeze the compressed part of the corrugated cardboard into the center of the corrugated cardboard. Therefore, the internal dimensions of the corrugated box are slightly shorter than the distance between the line and the crimping line when the corrugated box is unfolded. In this way, the shortened part of the size should be added as a correction value, which is closely related to the thickness of the corrugated cardboard.

In order to protect the contents of the most common carton, the outer rocker cover is usually butted and sealed. This requires that the dimensions of the carton's rocking lid must be calculated accurately, and there can be no gaps after docking or overlapping of the rocking lids. In principle, the theoretical value of the manufacturing size of the swing cover width should be one-half of the manufacturing size of the box width. However, since the inner and outer rocker covers are on the same pressing line, the inner rocker cover folds to support the outer rocker cover, and the outer rocker cover inevitably generates a certain gap at the joint. Therefore, it is very important to calculate the correction value of the manufacturing size of the outer swing cover width. This correction value is generally half of the thickness of the lined cardboard, but the expansion and contraction of the cardboard surface paper and backing paper caused by different crimping equipment are different, so it is best to determine it by actual measurement.

In short, in the structural design of the corrugated box, it should be determined according to the type and nature of the manufacturing equipment used, different production processes, and the corrugated paperboard and interior products that are constructed with different corrugated types. Only after mastering all the content related to the structure and size of the corrugated cardboard box can we manufacture corrugated cardboard boxes for protecting and beautifying the products.

According to the requirements of design and development in the nine thousand standard, the output of the new product design shall be verified and confirmed. As far as the output products are concerned, there are two verification methods: one is to measure and verify whether the specifications and sizes meet the expected requirements of the design; the other is to carry out the physical loading test. The second method is very practical and very simple. The first type of measurement requires a scientific method, otherwise the measurement results will be biased.

In the inspection regulations for corrugated cardboard boxes for export commodities, it is described in this way: the cardboard box is supported and formed, the angle between the adjacent faces is 90 °, and the inner diameter ruler is used to measure the boxes at 50mm from the mouth of the lap tongue. The length and width of the box are measured by the distance between the inner bottom of the box and the top of the box. But before measuring, there is a step that must be done: close one end of the rocker cover to make the carton support shape, the angle between the adjacent faces is close to the support at 90 ° C, and the inner rocker cover is pressed tightly with the pressure plate in the box. Open the top outer rocker cover, place the wooden ruler horizontally on the inner rocker cover, and then use the inner diameter ruler to measure the distance between the two sides of the box in the direction of length, width and height on the tongue 50mm away from the box opening. If the height of the carton is small, the middle position of the first to second nails can be measured, because the size of the two nails is more accurate after fixing. If there is no above-mentioned detection equipment, the carton can be folded and shaped, and leaned against the corner of the wall to ensure that the angle between adjacent sides of the carton is 90 ° C. The author once encountered such a problem during the customer visit. The customer reported that the carton was not well formed and the size deviation was large. After the interview, the original customer's inspector folded the carton and measured it directly at the crimping line. There are two errors. First, the carton is laid flat and the two creasing creases are increased, so that the carton is often turned into a diamond shape after folding. The carton with improper folding is certainly not able to guarantee the accuracy of the measurement. Second, after the carton is formed, the swing cover will support all four sides, especially at the crimping line, with the largest error. In principle, it should be 50mm from the crimping line on the tongue or the middle of the first to second nail distances. Position measurement is the most accurate and reasonable. [next]

The execution process is a "fuse"

High-quality products are produced, not tested. Therefore, strict implementation of good technology is the prerequisite for ensuring product quality. Among them, the quality awareness of personnel is a key factor. The forming process of carton mainly includes: longitudinal slitting and pressing line of assembly line, slotting and pressing line after printing, die cutting, manual touch line, etc. Manual wire-touching may only be seen in smaller third-tier factories. The quality of wire-touching has a considerable relationship with the proficiency of the operator. The remaining molding methods are relatively accurate, and the variation error is not large, especially many It is computer controlled. As long as the employees take it seriously and input the correct size, the chance of problems is very small.

Remedy afterwards is a "regret drug"

Anyone who is not afraid of 10,000 is afraid of it, no matter which part of the problem occurs, the product is a serious non-conformity. What if there is an error?

First of all, it is necessary to inform customers immediately and conduct adequate coordination and communication. Once the product is produced, the customer's specific intention is printed, and it is impossible to resell others. The final result is only two: scrap disposal or customer concession. The supply and demand sides of modern enterprises are in a win-win situation. If there is sufficient communication, and by taking certain remedial measures, certain losses may be avoided, but this is not recommended. The main remedies are:

1. Change the layout and method of the contents;

2. If the size is slightly larger, add pads or liners to fill appropriately;

3. If the size is slightly smaller, flatten the corrugated properly.

(Remarks: This is extremely dangerous. Cartons that require strict pressure resistance indexes can never do this. The second increase in size is also very limited.)
