Low-molecular-weight polyethylene contained in high-pressure low-density polyethylene is more soluble in fats and oils. Therefore, if food utensils made of polyethylene contain edible oils for a long time, they can be dissolved out of low-molecular weight polyethylene, and foods with more fats and oils will have more taste.

It can thus be seen that while consumers consume traditionally packaged cooking oil, they also “consume” low-molecular-weight polyethylene that is inedible and harmful to health. Therefore, the old packaging of fortified vitamin A edible oil is undoubtedly in an embarrassing situation of being eliminated. In developed countries such as Europe and the United States, PE packaging has long since been phased out. At the same time, in the form of laws and regulations, the scope of use of PE is clearly restricted. Instead, a more secure and effective transparent packaging material, PET, is used instead.
