Waste foam made of sound-absorbing materials

Recently, Japan's Daesung Construction Co. has succeeded in using waste polystyrene foam to manufacture low-cost sound-absorbing materials.

According to reports, after the waste foam was crushed, it was heated by far-infrared radiation and its volume was reduced to less than one-twentieth. By using it as the main raw material mixed with special cement, building materials like “rice sugar” are produced, and the average sound absorption effect is 60%, and the noise absorption of certain frequencies can reach more than 90%. . This material is approximately 20% lower in manufacturing cost than existing sound absorbing materials, light in handling, and excellent in durability and water resistance.

It is reported that this material has been used as the wall and ceiling of soundproofing facilities of power stations. It can also be used to make outdoor soundproofing materials such as noise barriers for highways.
