Since launching in 2010, Nike+ Running has been a highly rated running app. However, recently, Nike has made a major upgrade, and changed its name to Nike+ Run Club, but it has caused users to frantically whine.
As of last night, the latest 5.0.2 version of Nike+ Run Club had a total of 153 reviews on the App Store, with an average score of only one and a half stars. Most people give reasonable and helpful negative feedback. We have read most of these comments and summarized the following major pitfalls.
New UI design, including overtones
Voice broadcast changed from English to Chinese
The initial unit defaults to English, and can't be changed for a time
The original Weibo and QQ account login portal disappeared
Regular flashback
Running mileage data record error
Morning Run/Night Run Label Confusion
Ongoing training plan disappears
Loss of track record and running shoe data in the past (runs data restored)
Medal system and challenge mode offline
Among them, part of the inevitable adaptation of the user after the application of a major update, such as the application icon from the original iconic red to green, people feel "thought who helped me to download a new software."
However, this is also somewhat predictable. This interface revision is obviously in line with the Nike Training Club (NTC) launched a few days ago. Interestingly, the new version of NTC in the App Store is almost universally praised. The few reviews that mention UI design are also "simple and beautiful interface" and "looking comfortable."
What really irks the user is the poor experience of the new version of the application and the handling of past data. From the default imperial units to the cancellation of Weibo links, it can be seen that the new version has almost no consideration of the localization of the Chinese market.
The more "globalized" bad review comes from the data. Whether on Facebook or Weibo, the ongoing loss of training programs is one of the biggest controversies. Judging from Nike’s official reaction on social media, this seems to be expected. They seriously reply under the Facebook page saying:
"We have received your feedback. Here is a PDF file containing your previous training plan data."
The follow-me user's response was: "Wow, a PDF file! It feels like it was back in 1998! Thanks Nike for letting me return to 16 years old!"
From Nike's official promotion, one of their original intentions of this upgrade is to increase the social function of the NRC App, so as to provide more motivation for runners. For example, the new Instagram-like # hashtag feature is highlighted to replace the original medal and challenge model. But such a change is just as if the WeChat steps list has become the National People's Self-Photographing Conference overnight, which is hardly acceptable.
Ironically, the NRC App has emulated the "dynamic" part of social media, but it has become a platform for users to share bad experiences. Some netizens raised a question above:
